"I’m looking forward to meeting other people who make a difference"

April 22, 2026

“I’m looking forward to meeting other people who make a difference. I’m looking forward to meeting those who both want to, and can build societies that can withstand crises. I’m looking forward to gaining new insights, sharing experiences, and being inspired by skilled people who want to collaborate—people who invest their energy in building alliances in times of peace. That’s why I’m excited for Nordic Edge Expo!"

She is the Programme Director & Curator of Nordic Edge Expo, Inger Hanne Vikshåland—and of course, she has high expectations for the Expo in Stavanger this May.

What have Inger Hanne and her colleagues been thinking about as they put the programme together?

“The world in 2026 is not the same as we have known it since World War II. The war in Ukraine, Trump and the United States, unrest and conflict in the Middle East—and much more—have forced us to rethink many things entirely. Where do we get our food from? What energy sources do we have, and where do they come from? Who do we rely on for goods and services? And how do we build resilient societies in a world facing multiple, parallel crises? That is the big, underlying question we will try to address from different angles during the Expo.

“At the same time, it is more important than ever to meet in person. To see each other. Learn from one another. Be curious about each other. Get to know each other. We need to collaborate. We need to build alliances—ones we can rely on in times of peace, and not least when things become more challenging.”

Welcome to Nordic Edge Expo!

“I want the Expo to be edgy, forward-looking, and to provide insights and solutions that will matter in the years ahead. In everyday life, it’s far too easy to fix your gaze on your own shoes, to look down at the ground—but to find the right direction, you have to lift your eyes. That’s what we’re going to do at Nordic Egde Expo in May. And I’m really looking forward to it!”
