Energy communities have a long history. Many of the first electrification projects in the Nordic region were community driven organised for example as cooperatives. Energy communities may once again be the tool we need to accelerate the energy transition. But how?
This workshop will share knowledge from cutting research done in the Nordic Region and around Europe and participants will be asked to help design future energy communities in two different scenarios:
1. A small agricultural island community
2. A mixed urban neighbourhood with industry, commercial and residential zones
How can we develop energy communities in the two scenarios and what roles should the public sector, the private sector, academia, and citizens play to realize such energy communities?
Speakers: Anders Riel Müller (UiS), Siddharth Sareen (UiS), Sebastian Berggreen (Technopolis Group)
