Nordic Edge Asia, scheduled to take place in the Chinese cities of Beijing and Yantai, April 20-24, has been temporarily postponed. At present a new date has not been set.
Nordic Edge USA planned to take place at the House of Scandinavia during the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas on March 15, has been cancelled.
Given the uncertainty of the current situation, we find this to be the most responsible outcome. Our primary concern in postponing one event and cancelling the other is the health and well-being of all involved.
Over the last few Nordic Edge has expanded internationally with events in Asia and the United States. The aim is to strengthen the Nordic Smart City brand, in a wider sense, and create new market possibilities across borders and regions. Our first major event outside the Nordics was held in the Spring of 2019, with a Smart City Conference in China.
The two-way Smart City knowledge exchange between representatives from the five Nordic countries and Chinese counterparts proved fruitful. Chinese authorities and Nordic partners from the private sector, public sector and academia collaborated on hosting and programming the event, which includes conference tracks, workshops, site visits and 1:1 business meetings for companies interested in entering the Chinese market.
We have all intentions of continuing to bring Nordic solutions to new markets, and vice-versa, and will announce new dates for the event once circumstances allow.
At SXSW the Nordic Edge team were collaborating with Palo Alto-based Nordic Innovation House, Nordic LA and the Nordic Smart City Network in hosting a conference programme on Smart Cities and the future of mobility. The programme was sponsored by Nordic Innovation.
Parts of the programme will be re-scheduled for a later time. When and where is to be confirmed.
Nordic Edge has since the beginning worked for innovation, societal and business transformation. Along with the rest of the world the organisation is facing its biggest change to date. The 6th edition of the leading Smart City event in the Nordics is going digital in 2020.
